Advances in critical care medicine has led to higher patient survival rates but increasingly complex comorbidities, including dysphagia. This module will discuss the swallowing profile of these complex patients and recent advances in dysphagia rehabilitation within the critical care setting.

Dr Nicola Clayton
Dr Nicola Clayton is a speech pathologist with more than 20 years’ experience in adult dysphagia. She is recognised nationally and internationally for her clinical expertise and research in the assessment and treatment of complex swallowing disorders in critical care, respiratory disease and severe burn injury; highly specialised areas of speech pathology practice. She holds honorary affiliations with the University of Sydney and the University of Queensland.
