Course/Activity Information

Course overview

The First Nations course, which is part of the SBS Inclusion Program, is designed to improve knowledge and understanding of the oldest surviving culture on earth. It will give you the tools to apply your knowledge to your daily life - whether it’s at work, with friends, or at home. This course aims to foster a fairer, safer, and more respectful work environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Ultimately, with a higher level of cultural competence, you are playing an active role in the reconciliation process while making Australia a fairer, more empathetic place for its First Nations peoples.

The course should take approximately 1 hour to complete and consists of three modules, including:

  1. Who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples (25 mins)
  2. Getting to know Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures (25 mins)
  3. Uluru Statement from the Heart (10 mins)
