Clinical Bite with Dr Lynn Williams on 13 June, supporting young children with limited sound inventory.
Overview
This Clinical Bite will focus on the Stimulability Approach developed by Adele Miccio for young children (2-4 years of age) who have a limited sound inventory and poor sound stimulability. An overview of the theoretical foundations and evidence for the approach will be provided with an emphasis on the Key Components of the Stimulability Approach. A case study will be presented to highlight the clinical decision-making in selecting this approach for the appropriate clients.

Dr Lynn Williams
Lynn Williams is Interim Dean in the College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences at East Tennessee State University and Professor in the Department of Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology and was an Honorary Professor at the University of Sydney (2015-2018).
Her research has focused on development of a new model of phonological intervention called multiple oppositions that has been the basis of federally funded intervention studies by the National Institutes of Health (NIH); she has authored several articles in a variety of journals, as well as published several book chapters; developed a phonological intervention software program called Sound Contrasts in Phonology (SCIP) that was funded by NIH; authored a book Speech Disorders Resource Guide for Preschool Children; and served as associate editor of Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in the Schools and has served two terms as the associate editor of the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology.
She has co-edited a book on Interventions for Speech Sound Disorders in Children (2nd edition) that was published in 2021 by Brookes Publishing. Dr. Williams has been a frequent presenter at numerous state, national, and international conferences. She is a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and was the 2021 President of ASHA.
