You’ve got the AAC device  - now what? Join this practical workshop to see real-life, clinically applicable approaches that Speech Pathologists can use to deliver AAC intervention to people who use AAC and their teams. Get ideas for therapy in practice, alternatives to train communication partners and ways to overcome the barriers that may occur; help them to have successful communication and build connections with the world around them!

Learning objectives

Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the key objectives and starting points when starting AAC intervention
  • Describe features of AAC interventions based on current evidence, clinical expertise and AAC user/client perspectives
  • Identify at least 10 practical applications of an AAC intervention
  • Compare training approaches and outcomes of that training, for communication partners
  • Plan AAC intervention across different clinical contexts
  • Evaluate barriers to AAC success

Who should attend

This workshop is for speech pathologists with an understanding of AAC assessment principles.
