Course/Activity Information

This Clinical Bite will focus on the logistics of sourcing high and low tech AAC systems to trial the AAC assessment process. Information will also be provided on how to best utilise the trial period.

Learning objectives

Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants will be able to

  • build their own library of AAC systems to trial with clients,
  • access additional AAC systems for loan or hire for trials,
  • prepare for AAC trials to best utilise the limited loan/hire period.

Dr Alison Moorcroft 

Alison runs 'I Have Something to Say', a private speech pathology practice in Brisbane which works exclusively with children and adults with complex communication needs.

In 2019, Alison completed her PhD at The University of Queensland which focused on factors that contribute to the rejection and abandonment of AAC systems.

She has published articles, presented at national and international conferences, taught university students, and has extensive clinical experience in AAC assessment and intervention for both children and adults.
