Course/Activity Information

This Blended Learning course consists of:

  • 1.5 hours of On Demand learning: to be completed in your own time between September and October 2026

  • LIVE Session: Wednesday 28 October 2026, 1–3 pm AEDT

*Registration is for both components

This blended learning experience combines a self-paced pre-recorded webinar with an interactive live workshop to help participants understand and apply practical wellbeing strategies for emotionally demanding work. Participants will explore the impacts of burnout, moral injury, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma, learn hope-based approaches to building resilience, and develop practical strategies to support their own wellbeing. Through guided reflection, discussion and interactive activities, participants will create a personalised wellbeing plan that can be applied in their own practice, teams and organisations.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the differences and similarities between compassion fatigue, burnout, moral injury and vicarious trauma, including why moral injury occurs and how to recognise it.
  • Apply strategies for overcoming or reducing the impact of stress and burnout at individual, team and organisational levels.
  • Understand hope theory and build a personal set of hope assessment tools and hope strategies that can be applied at a personal level and introduced at the team and/or organisational level.
  • Develop an understanding of your personal spheres of influence vs control and actions to enhance and plan for your wellbeing.
  • Explore approaches to developing a sustainable wellbeing plan, including strategies to support your wellbeing and accountability.

Who should attend

This blended learning course begins with an introductory On Demand webinar designed for participants who are new to the topic or have limited prior knowledge. It covers foundational concepts, key terminology and basic practical applications to build understanding and confidence.

Participants will then have the opportunity to delve deeper into the content and develop their skills in applying the learnings to everyday practice.
